Port of Call was performed on 13 September 8pm (approx 20min) at FOST Gallery as part of the exhibition 床事--A Thing or Two about the Bed curated by Tang Ling-Nah
Port of Call is an original duet score created around sleepwalking (or
somnambulism) and informed by movement principles such as contact
improvisation and release technique. Here, the bed is regarded as a site
of departure from reasoning and for release into the subconscious when
the sleepwalking begins.
In creating the score, Strangeweather Movement asks these questions:
How conscious is the sleepwalker?
How far will the sleepwalker go?
How do we perform release?
Who is watching?
At once mundane and whimsical, Port of Call invites the audience to
daydream about their sleepwalking abilities and potential activities.
